Accountant

Role & Key Responsibilities

  • To accurately process accounting records and prepare financial statements and management accounts in accordance with the designated accounting framework(s)
  • Responsible for a portfolio of clients
  • Preparation of  periodic management accounts and annual financial statements;
  • Prepare IFRS accounts, management accounts or financial statements in accordance with international accounting principles and standards;
  • Consolidation of Accounts;
  • Assist the Head of Accounting and other members of management team, providing daily support as requested
  • Preparation & filing of all tax returns (annual, APS, VAT and/or TDS);
  • Provide support to the directors in preparation of complex accounting strategies and/or financial statements;
  • Generally assisting the administration team and the board of directors with financial, tax and general accounting queries;
  • Attend to the timely completion and submission of FSC Surveys as and when they arise;
  • Liaise with the Mauritius Revenue Authority for any accounting and/or tax matters including annual APS, TDS or VAT and/or (applications for) tax rulings;
  • Develop and maintain a process to ensure the timely delivery of client accounting requirements in relation to financial reports and accounts for all entities in allocated portfolio;
  • Attend board meetings and other client meetings to present accounts and discuss accounting related matters.
  • Assistance to senior team members on daily tasks and other administrative tasks;
  • Liaise with the appointed Auditors to complete the audit of financial statements in accordance with defined timetables

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • ACCA/ACA fully/partly qualified and Accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS. Knowledge in other relevant accounting frameworks such as US GAAP is an advantage
  • Ability to operate accounting software
  • Well versed in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Professionalism and ability to win the respect of clients
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Ability to interact with colleagues at all levels
  • Flexibility to adapt to the role as the company develop
